Getting Your Website to Work for YouIt?s not enough to just put up a Web page. If you want to pull people in and keep them coming back, you've got to have something that rocks. - Get a clear vision.
Before you build your site make sure you have a clear-eyed reason for building the site. Stay true to your business.
- Faster Beats Fancier.
If visitors have to wait more than a minute for your page to load they will go away and never come back.
- Colour Carefully.
Make sure type contrasts well with the background, black on white is my favourite. To reach the maximum audience avoid exotic colour schemes. Be bold when you need to.
- Content is King.
Make your most meaningful material the easiest to find. On the web people skim read and surf. Give them something quickly or they will be gone.
- Small bytes are easier to digest.
Its better to break information down into small bits of information. Use headings and break your text up into well spaced paragraphs.
- If you don?t have something good to say,
don?t say anything. Make sure what you are sharing on your site is something people want to read.
So get out there, define your purpose, engage your visitors, give something back and your site will rock! |
