2 Tips to Increase Your Google Ranking
Google's order of results is automatically determined by more than 100
factors, most of which they keep secret. Here's two tips for you that we
know about and are sure to boost your ranking.
- Get everyone you know to link to your site
The Google PageRank algorithm interprets a link from Page A to Page B as
a vote for Page B by Page A. PageRank then assesses a page's importance
by the number of votes it receives. So the more sites that link to your
web site the more important your site becomes.
PageRank also considers the importance of each page that casts a vote,
thus pages considered to have greater value give the linked page a higher
ranking. There is no human involvement or manipulation of results, so
submitting your site to Google is useful if no other site links to your new
site but otherwise it has no effect.
- Repeat keywords throughout your copy.
Google's search engine also analyzes page content including fonts,
subdivisions and the precise location of each word.
Recently a client, Sue, said to me ' How can we increase our ranking on
Google? Our company name, Te Kaihau, is two hundred and sixteenth (216 th)
on the Google index and that's not good enough'. I advised her to change
some of the copy on the website. Sue took action straight away (she usually
does!) and in just one page on their website she changed 80% of the 'we' and
'our' to 'Te Kaihau'.
In the space of 3 weeks they increased their worldwide Google ranking
from two hundred and sixteenth (216th) to sixth (6th)!
The Google index is updated about once a month, results don't show
straight away.
There's no time to lose... get everyone you know with a website, to link
to your site and think about some humming copy.
