9 Ways to Promote your Web Site
How will people know that you have a web site and where to find it? Here
are 9 ways to increase the number of visitors to your web site. As you
implement each one, remember to check your web statistics, to see how
effective your efforts have been.
- Business Cards. Your web site URL should be on all
your printed material; business cards, letterheads, wrapping paper,
postcards, signs etc.
- Staff. Make sure all your staff know what is on
your web site and how they can effectively refer people to the site.
- Email Signature. List your web site URL in your
email signature.
- Word of Mouth. Make sure to talk about your
business and website with friends, family and customers as much as
possible.
- HTML email newsletters. Consider setting up a
regular newsletter to keep your customers informed about topical items
in your industry and special offers. Draw them back to your web site
through the use of active links.
- Monitor your Statistics. Use your site statistics
(free with all our hosting plans) to see which pages are most looked at
by visitors, how they found your site, where they came from (referrer).
Then act on that information.
- Announcements. When you make a major change to your
site, win an award or have something else newsworthy then send out an
announcement or press release with a link back to your web site.
- Pay-per-Click Advertising. Overture or Google
Ad-words is a way to advertise your site and only pay for your
advertising when someone clicks on your advertisement.
- Search Engines. Notice this is not at the top, it
is just one of many strategies you have to promote your
web site. Optimising your web site for search engines will bring
significant rewards.
