Firefox - a great alternative to Internet Explorer

You may have heard about the great new web browser that is increasing it's market share every month - Firefox is that browser. Some months ago I switched to using Firefox as my primary browser and would like to share my passion for it, with you. Here's some of the hot benefits that make Firefox my browser of choice:

  • Popup Blocking
Firefox stops annoying popup windows. Some sites make legitimate use of popup windows - when Firefox blocks a popup window, it displays an icon and gives you the choice to allow some or all of the popup windows.
  • Faster surfing with tabbed browsing.
Tabbed browsing makes the web faster and more efficient. You can concentrate on reading a page without the confusion of having to switch between windows. While you're reading a page, links you have opened in background tabs are loading so when you're ready to read them, they've already finished loading and you don't need to wait.
  • It's free and so is Internet Explorer
  • Simple Privacy.
You can clear all stored information with a single click - particularly useful if you're using a public or shared computer. Cookies, files you've downloaded, pages you've visited (history), and so on can be quickly cleared using the Privacy panel of Tools, Options.
  • Easier Favourites/Bookmarks Management.
Firefox's bookmarks manager creates folders to group similar items, and you can add annotations to remind yourself why you bookmarked a particular item.
  • Accessible
Firefox has the best set of keyboard shortcuts.
  • Intelligent
Firefox remembers what you've filled in web forms, to make searching for things again, or filling out things like your name and address a simple process. Firefox also features a password manager that automatically fills out user-name/password fields on sites that require you to log in.
  • Fast
Firefox feels more responsive than Internet Explorer - pages appear on screen sooner.

Give Firefox a try! - you can use it right alongside Internet Explorer. Read more about Firefox on the BBC web site and you can download it from mozilla.com

PS: We quality test of all our web sites on both Internet Explorer and Firefox
