High Quality Photography
High quality photography improves product
pages leading to increased sales.
One of the easiest ways to improve your product pages or product
catalogue is to show better photographs.
For the main shot at the top of the product page, show the photo which
best represents that product. Below that you can show your product from
different perspectives and in close up. These additional photos should be of
a smaller size, see example on the
Bevin
Slessor website.
Smaller photos that link to large product photos can really assist your
website customer. Without the touch-and-feel of a regular store you need to
work a little harder to give customers a sensory experience. High quality
photographs can give customers an approximation of a products tactile
qualities and are essential for making people feel good about buying online.
Don't lots of photos make my site slow?
Using professional photo enhancing software to reduce both the physical
size and the file size of images, combined with the judicious use of large
images behind small images will not slow the loading of your site.
In the first case your website visitor expects the page they are viewing
to appear quickly on their screen. Once the visitor has looked at the page
and they click on a product photo they
expect a delay and they expect
to see a larger, high quality image. Nothing is more annoying than clicking
on a small image only to see another small or slightly bigger image - why
bother!
